The GREEN Program is an effort to obtain objective performance data on new and existing refrigerants in a variety of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump applications. The testing program is accompanied by a communications effort to disseminate performance information as well as other comparisons of HFC and alternative refrigerants, particularly hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide.
Objectives
- Conduct worldwide performance testing of hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) and hydrocarbon (HC) refrigerant systems and compare results on an equal basis.
- Invite companies and testing laboratories from around the world to participate in the testing program.
- Share all test results in open fora and provide for discussion and comments. Develop a method for resolution of comments before data is published.
- Participants will agree to publish data, along with comments, in the open literature. Alternatively, ARI will publish that data.
- The participating organizations will meet regularly (three times per year) in North America, Europe and Asia to review and comment on test data.
- Develop a communications program and sample material that is aimed at critical industry audiences.
