The GREEN Program is an effort to obtain objective performance data on new and existing refrigerants in a variety of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump applications. The testing program is accompanied by a communications effort to disseminate performance information as well as other comparisons of HFC and alternative refrigerants, particularly hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide.

Objectives
  1. Conduct worldwide performance testing of hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) and hydrocarbon (HC) refrigerant systems and compare results on an equal basis.
  2. Invite companies and testing laboratories from around the world to participate in the testing program.
  3. Share all test results in open fora and provide for discussion and comments. Develop a method for resolution of comments before data is published.
  4. Participants will agree to publish data, along with comments, in the open literature. Alternatively, ARI will publish that data.
  5. The participating organizations will meet regularly (three times per year) in North America, Europe and Asia to review and comment on test data.
  6. Develop a communications program and sample material that is aimed at critical industry audiences.
